Secretary Defence ceremonially opens the Naval and Maritime exhibition
Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa ceremonially opened the Naval and Maritime exhibition held in view of the Sri Lanka Navy’s 60th anniversary, yesterday (05 December 2010) around 05p.m. He was received by the Commander of the Navy upon his arrival at the Light House exhibition venue.
The Secretary Defence was accompanied by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasooriya, Director General of the Civil Defence Department Rear Admiral (retd) Ananda Peiris and the Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Mr. Luxman Hullugalle.
After witnessing the live sea demonstration by the Special Boat Squadron and the Rapid Action Boat Squadron the Secretary Defence saw the cultural show put out by the Navy band and cultural troupe. He also visited the stalls. He praised the Navy and its personnel for doing a job well done.
The exhibition was open to the public since yesterday (04 December 2010) and will go on till 12th December except on 7th and 8th.
